Stadtführung und Stadtrundgang in München:
Unbekanntes München - Unknown Munich: National Socialism
We start at St. Boniface’s Abbey, an impressive memorial to the destruction of the war. Here, near Königsplatz, were the Party Headquarters. Although Munich increasingly played a subordinate role to Berlin in the Nazi power system, the “Capital of the movement” remained the centre of the party’s bureaucratic apparatus.
Why could it happen and why happened it in Munich? Why was Munich awarded also the honorary title “Capital of German Art”?
Passing by the Central Institute for the History of Art – former NSDAP Administration Building as well as Academy of Theatre and Music – former Führerbau we approach the site where the new documentation centre is currently on construction.
Court Garden Arcades with its exhibition "Degenerate Art", "House of German Art", Night of the Amazones, are further issues.
We finish our tour at Feldherrnhalle where Hitler’s putsch attempt failed in 1923 and see so-called Dodger’s Alley…
